Paul Molete, Joburg.
This is a portrait of a street-kid the artist met and befriended on the streets of the J. They met when the child approached Molete asking for money. However, he decided to offer the child some biscuits as he was worried (if he gave money) he might go and buy glue with it.
Said Molete: “i thought that, being a street-kid, he might use the money for something other than food. But when I told him this, the kid just smiled and said, ‘You know, uncle, life does not threaten me.?”
